The Bar Manager will showcase their creativity and passion for mixology and craft cocktails while working closely with the General Manager+Beverage Director to manage the day-to-day operations of the beverage program. Together, they will recruit, train, manage and mentor all bartenders and barbacks. This role will provide direction and support for the team to ensure a positive and memorable guest experience. The Bar Manager will also facilitate the planning and executing of the bar program for private events throughout the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee bar operations for both Holbrook House and the event business for the Conservatory at One Sansome and North Lobby Business Park.
- Assist in developing and executing a unique and captivating cocktail menu that aligns with Holbrook House's vision and concept
- Create and maintain an inventory of high-quality spirits, liquors, and ingredients necessary for the bar operations
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of bartenders and barbacks, ensuring consistency in service, drink preparation, and overall guest experience.
- Be the example – hold yourself and team members accountable for high standards of hospitality, fostering a positive and proactive environment
- Establish and implement service standards, accountability measures and incentives for all team members. Sustain on-going training topics that encompass all areas of hospitality
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge and share expertise with staff, ensuring they are well-informed and capable of making recommendations
- Inventory management, ordering supplies, and monitoring stock levels
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with the management team to develop strategies for increasing sales, improving guest satisfaction, and driving overall business growth
- Stay updated with industry trends, new techniques, and emerging spirits, incorporating them into the bar's offerings
- Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and efficient manner, striving to resolve issues promptly
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a bartender a comparable setting
- Proven experience in creating innovative and well-balanced cocktails, with a deep understanding of mixology techniques and trends.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with team members and guests.
- Extensive knowledge of spirits, wines, and other beverages, with the ability to educate and make recommendations to guests.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with a focus on providing a personalized and memorable experience to every guest.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while maintaining attention to detail and upholding quality standards.
- Must be familiar with health and safety regulations and possess a current Food Handler's Certificate or similar certification as well as a current Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail • Able to multitask efficiently
- Must be a proven self-starter capable of finding solutions with minimal supervision • Highly reliable, adaptable and punctual
- Available to work a flexible schedule that will include days, evenings and weekends dictated by the restaurant and event schedules as well as seasonal changes
- Have the stamina to work up to 10 hours - standing and walking between service areas for the duration of the shift
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 25lbs, reach overhead and perform repetitive motion
