Description

The Sr. Human Resource Generalist will partner with the HR Manager/Business Partner to run the daily Human Resources functions for our office located in East Haven, Connecticut. This role will be the primary day-in, day-out HR contact for employees working out of the East Haven office and will partner with US HR leadership regarding employee relations, benefits and leave administration, enforcing company policies and procedures, etc.

Location: This role is located in our office in East Haven, Connecticut.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assists with annual performance management process, including completing evaluation(s) for any applicable direct reports.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory trainings, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, or professional licensure/certifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Builds bridges with the management team and individual employees to become a trusted resource and partner in solving problems and identifying needs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, or leadership, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Participate and lead projects related to developing and enhancing HR operational efficiencies. Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicates and educates employees on the companys policies, practices, and programs. Responds to employee inquiries as appropriate.
  • Works closely with the HR team to plan and implement various HR programs, processes, policies and procedures. Advises and assists managers and supervisors with interpreting and applying company policies and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Demonstrates company culture by example in creating an environment of open and honest communication, high creativity, and operational excellence.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Ensures all personnel, payroll and medical files are prepared and maintained in accordance with record keeping requirements and company policy.
  • Responds to external inquiries regarding employment verifications and unemployment claims.
  • Perform exit interviews when applicable.
  • Assists with/oversees organizing employee events as in accordance with company budget/culture. Plays an active role in any employee committees relating to employee events. Oversees recognition of birthdays, anniversaries, and service awards.
  • Expected to be the organizational subject matter expert regarding CT Paid FMLA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant HR experience, a bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field may count towards experience.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented and persistent; very organized and have an exceptional written and verbal communication style.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS (ADP).
  • Aptitude for effectively handling stressful situations, prioritizing work, and meeting deadlines.
  • Problem solver and troubleshooter.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Preferred: PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
