The UVSO HR Generalist will be the primary liaison between the organization and the agency’s payroll vendor – specifically, its PEO platform – working closely with the finance department and reporting directly to the COO. The generalist will ensure smooth and efficient business operations.
The HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping leadership to plan and administer important functions, such as: job postings, new hiring onboarding, training and development, and compensation and benefits. Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in educating staff and providing direction as it pertains to personnel policies and procedures, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations in collaboration with the PEO HR Specialist.
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements.
- Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs.
- Suggest new policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of HR functionality within the agency.
- Assist in cultivating a productive and transparent agency culture throughout the organization by being a culture champion and highlighting resources available to all staff.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Facilitate a smooth new hire onboarding process, coordinating with UVSO cross-functional departments and the PEO administrator to deliver an effortless onboarding process and create an exceptional first-day experience.
- Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into the PEO platform.
- Maintain accurate, complete, up-to-date and organized digital and hardcopy employee records– ensuring all employee documentation is available digitally at all times.
- Be the primary point person for employment status changes such as disability, maternity leave, etc, including updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, inputting exceptions, and assist benefit changes
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart.
Minimum Qualifications and Essential Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field, or at least five (5) years of HR experience that incorporated the above-cited responsibilities
- HR training or experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is a must
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness are
- Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude, and thorough knowledge of HR policies and procedures
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, cloud-based HR systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
