Position Description
The Azure Database Engineer (DBE) position is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including monitoring, backing up and restoring databases, supporting and reviewing developer change requests, patching SQL Servers and maintaining database security over both our Azure VM based SQL instances as well as Azure SQL.
Members of the DBE team will also be working with other Database Engineers (DBE) and System Engineers (SE) to help build out and support the cloud data infrastructure used by our supported businesses. This will include development and support of Data Factory pipelines and Azure Automation tools.
Be able to work during regular business hours – 7 AM CT – 5 PM CT
Must reside in continental US
Key Responsibilities
Independently creating, modifying, and implementing complex database scripts
Independently investigating and resolving complex database issues
Performing the migration of the current enterprise environment to any new environment
Establish and maintain appropriate end-user database access control levels, actively monitor the databases to ensure secure availability and performance within internal and external SLAs
Monitor and validate that the various database backup operations are successful
Maintain, create, and monitor various database processes
Work with application development and production support staff to provide database guidance and ensure coding standards are adhered to
Proactively monitor the system hardware utilization, make capacity planning periodically for database systems
Escalate problems to management and related teams as appropriate
Production support for database related issues
Minimum Requirements
Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience
Critical Skills
5+ years IT operation with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
5+ years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016+ Enterprise edition
3+ years’ experience working with Azure SQL databases and Azure Data Factory
3+ years’ experience working with DACPAC deployments
2+ years’ experience working the Source Control, specifically in Azure DevOps
2+ years’ experience with PowerShell, Python or JSON
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Strong customer service orientation and positive work ethics

Education
4-year degree in computer science or information technology (or equivalent experience)
