Social MediaCoordinator & Creative Content Specialist
Position Summary:This position creates, edits and posts content to Spelman College’s official Social Media sites, as well as monitors and measures engagement with stakeholders. The coordinator also assists with the development of digital strategies to leverage relationships with stakeholders, and reports that reflect the status and level of engagement. Spelman’s Social Media presences include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :- Plan, manage and execute all Social Media programs and initiatives which include:
- Planning and executing Social Media strategy as part of integrated marketing communications via the various College digital mediums, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Flickr, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest;
- Developing and managing digital marketing campaigns for the College’s social platforms;
- Identifying and creating new opportunities for social involvement and engagement;
- Creating and managing analytics of all social platforms;
- Writing for various digital mediums;
- Provide on-site Social Media communication for key College events, presenting real-time news and information for stakeholders. Some events include Opening Convocation, Homecoming, Commencement, Women of Color Leadership Conference, Founders Day and Christmas Carol Concert;
- Track Social Media coverage about the College and compile analytics reports detailing frequency and type of coverage, and analysis of key messages.
- Review comments and respond, forward to appropriate departmental contact or remove, if inappropriate;
- Maintain a positive image and reputation for the College by communicating on Social Media about programs, accomplishments, positions and/or points of view that support the College’s priorities and mission;
- Actively seek and show awareness of current and emerging Social Media trends; propose new strategies and tactics that help support departmental interactive goals;
- Partner with other Social Media content owners in various departments on campus to monitor level of engagement, create consistent messaging and assist with major communication initiatives;
- Train work-study staff to contribute to responsible management of Social Media channels;
- Work with Assistant Director of News and Communications to support and enforce the College’s Social Media policy and procedures;
- Ensure Social Media branding and communication remain consistent with overall institutional brand guidelines;
- Improve internal understanding of Social Media, Spelman’s policies and guidelines, and provide training to campus partners, as assigned;
- Manage student workers in Interactive Communications.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of directly-related experience required. Must know the language, vernacular, specifications and requirements of the social sphere and have a deep understanding of Social Media tools.Must have the ability to read and interpret documents and possess excellent writing skills with the ability to write articles for various digital mediums. The incumbent must be able to write routine reports, as well as provide analysis of Social Media analytics. Independent judgment and attention to detail is necessary to plan, prioritize and execute brand management via Social Media marketing. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, students, alumnae, other College constituents and the public.To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to perform basic level skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must be able to conduct Internet research, and experience with Google analytics, email systems and a variety of electronic communication tools is preferred. In addition to producing correspondence, memos, and e-mails, duties may involve assignments that require creating spreadsheets or brochures.
Preferred Qualifications:Background in higher education preferred, but not necessary.
