A. POSITION PURPOSE
The Enrollment Management Senior Manager of Data Analytics, Systems and Technology will report to the Senior Director of Systems, Technology, and Data Analytics. This position is the strategic and functional lead for Enrollment Management (EM) Division's Data Analytics and information systems. This position is responsible for guiding the operational teams for Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid on data collection and reporting. This position provides input to EM, Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid management on strategic planning, proposes system and data policies and procedures, and recommends strategies for the long-term information system needs.
This role will oversee the ongoing development, design, and configuration plans to support long-term maintenance, enhancements, and integrations, working closely with Enrollment Management departments and IT regarding applications, processes, and data integrity. A strong emphasis will be placed on the Financial Aid student information system, processes and procedures, while providing technical reporting support and guiding and assisting all Enrollment Management departments in their reporting and technical set-ups.
Additionally, the EM Senior Manager of Data Analytics, Systems and Technology will collaborate with other departments' technical teams on a variety of special projects and activities related to systems and data integrations. Working with considerable latitude, this position resolves complex technical and organizational data problems requiring a high level of security and sensitivity of confidential information.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Analytics and Reporting
  • Lead the report development to support Enrollment Management's data-informed, forward-looking, quick market-response, comprehensive enrollment strategy.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate cross-functional data projects in collaboration with functional areas to analyze trends, forecast, and provide reports.
  • Work with 3rd party information systems to develop Data Analytics, i.e., Maguire, National Student Clearinghouse, and College Board.
  • Assist Enrollment Management leadership to develop strategic path for Enrollment Management Data Analytics needs.
  • Identify data sources for said strategy, and assist and support EM staff with augmenting, cleansing, and building out those data sources to better support the strategic path.
  • Collaborate with IT department to design and develop data models for Workday, Slate and other third-party applications. Should appropriate tools become available, build, maintain and secure these models and mappings.
  • Support, mentor and guide EM reporting staff with building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and running reports in Workday and Reporting Environment
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management partners (IT, IR, Provost, UFO, and beyond) to develop overall data reporting strategy. Should appropriate tools become available, build, maintain and secure the data models needed to enact the overall strategy with Enrollment Management partners.
  • Work with departments in Enrollment Management to continue to develop best practice to collect and audit data to ensure data quality. Monitor and clean data to ensure reporting efficiency and accuracy.

Information Systems Strategic Planning
  • Participates in development of division-wide student information systems goals and objectives in collaboration with IT department.
  • Proposes and implements strategic plans involving student information systems and applications, including long-term goals, related policies, and procedures for the EM division.
  • Interprets and applies EM and Financial Aid policies and procedures ensuring proper implementation and administration of systems/technology and reporting capture.
  • Proposes, designs, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and guidelines for EM departments including processes, report writing, data acquisition, confidentiality standards, and systems access, to meet and maintain expected levels of quality and service for EM staff and SCU students.
  • Proactively recommends and drives process improvements and innovative solutions to add value to business operations.
  • Defines and configures systems changes in support of business strategy and processes
  • Continuously works closely with EM, Financial Aid and Undergraduate Admission leadership team to gain business operation efficiencies by leveraging information system and application functionality.
  • Remains current on and adheres to laws, policies, and rules pertaining to technology and data privacy.

3. Information Systems Management
  • Manages EM systems updates, upgrades, integrations, data transfers, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Provides continuous attention to troubleshooting issues related to EM technical applications (e.g. Workday, Slate, etc.)
  • Provides assistance and technical support to EM staff on development of reports and procedures for data capture.
  • Manages the configuration, design, and execution of system processes, dashboards, and complex ad hoc reports.
  • Support technology upgrades and releases.
  • Ensures data integrity in coordination with EM department operations leads; identifies data issues and works with staff to resolve issues through research, communication, collaboration.
  • Oversees and monitors audit reports in all system modules to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Responsible for regular and routine data audits, and works with business process owners to ensure data issues are resolved.
  • Serves as a liaison and collaborates with IT support team in the on-going maintenance of EM information systems and technology platforms. Researches and proposes solutions when system issues arise. Implements solutions where appropriate.
  • Provide staff training on systems and new processes. Document technical processes and procedures and guide EM operations teams on technical documentation.

4. Systems Policy and Security (Recommends and implements)
  • Responsible for providing secure technology system processes for EM division.
  • Proposes and implements system policies and practices for data and quality assurance while ensuring data security.

5. Other duties as assigned.
  • Learn new tools, skills, and techniques through training, webinars and conferences
  • Special projects, as assigned

C. PROVIDES WORK DIRECTION
This position provides work lead direction to Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid operations teams with respect to information systems and data integrity oversight. May supervise student assistants.
D. GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
2. Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve data quality.
3. Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
4. Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
5. Maintains contact with operations leads and partners and solicits feedback for improved services, processes, procedure and shared reports.
6. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
7. Researches and develops resources that present timely and efficient solutions.

1. Knowledge
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Workday reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems related project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems development life cycle and structured systems development concepts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems design and technology integration techniques.
  • Understanding of object based and relational database table structure, user interface, and security structure.
  • Knowledge of data and file structure, database systems, and operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of office support software applications: word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Ability to write complex queries. Knowledge of scripting languages is a plus.
  • General knowledge of FERPA.

4. Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in a technology or data-related field or equivalent experience, and a minimum of six (6) years related experience, two (2) of which are in the technical area of expertise. Possess advanced knowledge and skills in Information Systems/Technology area. Related certifications preferred. Experience with supporting administrative systems in academic environment preferred.

G. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work involves extensive exposure to video display terminals, and moderate exposure to risk of electrical shock due to frequency of interaction with computer hardware, servers, electronic equipment, electrical outlets and cables. Adherence to occupational standards for safety is required.
