JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Events will provide expertise and guidance to the University community regarding internal and external event production. They will manage and execute comprehensive plans and strategies for events that promote Post University’s brand and culture. The Director of Events will help educate and engage key stakeholders, including associates, students, potential students, business leaders, legislators, community members in the Greater Waterbury area, and more. This individual will report to the Sr. Vice President of Post University. The position is on-site in Waterbury, CT, and is not a remote opportunity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Models Post’s non-negotiable behaviors and values at all times to reinforce its culture.
- Manages all aspects of event execution for university-produced events and outside guest events, including commencement, admissions events, guest lectures, celebrations, and all-associate meetings;
- Develops event department budget and manages finances;
- Ensures events comply with university policies, procedures, and standards;
- Manages organization’s events calendar;
- Identifies annual cultural milestones to be celebrated/acknowledged by the organization;
- Manages the University’s corporate and charitable sponsorship initiatives;
- Completes special projects as assigned by the Office of the Senior Vice President and the CEO/President;
- Coordinates services/contracts with select vendors and
- Prepares various reports and supervises a small staff.
- Creates event graphics as needed for various communication channels, utilizing the University branding guide and coordinating with the Communications team.
- Manages the hands-on operation of A/V equipment at events and/or manages outside vendors engaged for specific events;
- Writes scripts for public events, including but not limited to cultural milestones, memorial events, and celebrations;
- Must be flexible with working hours to accommodate events that occasionally fall on nights and weekends.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of education, experience, or training may be considered instead of a bachelor’s degree.
- Five-seven years of related experience
- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience is required.
- Expert public speaking and presentation skills
- Work onsite required.
