JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Scheduling Patient Care Coordinator
Reports to: Scheduling Manager
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for successfully managing large amounts of inbound calls regarding patient care in a prompt and courteous manner. Resolves patients’ questions and problems regarding their healthcare.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
TELEPHONES
- Triage patient phone calls
- Return patient calls & emails
- Enter demographic information
- Verify existing patient information
SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS
- Enter demographic information
- Verify existing patient information
- At the time of scheduling, explain practice financial policy to patient.
- Record patient insurance company, ID #, and phone number
REFERRALS
- Referrals are received via leading reach & fax
- As referrals are received, they should be categorized by insurance type
- Referrals should be entered and called throughout the workday
EMAILS
- Return patient emails promptly
- Follow HIPAA policy when emailing patients
OTHER
- Treat all patients and other staff members with respect, be polite and professional, and keep patients informed of any delays in being seen.
- Always maintains patient privacy.
- Assists in the training of new employees.
- Additional duties as assigned by the practice manager or the physician(s).
