Wieland is hiring aSafety and Quality Coordinator. The Safety & Quality Coordinator will be responsible for supporting all site employees and department managers in achieving Safety and Quality targets and objectives by coordinating, implementing, and maintaining Quality Systems and Safety Programs throughout the site.  This role is located in Tinley Park, Il and will be fully on-site.

Safety and Quality CoordinatorResponsibilities:

• SAFETY:
  • Improve on and facilitate the execution of our safety program along with related initiatives and inspections.
  • Champion the Safety-First culture; lead and engage in safety improvement initiatives as identified and lead the VPP safety system and certification process.
  • Complete and file required documentations related to and in support to WMS safety programs.
  • Lead safety investigations and ensure corrective actions are appropriate and sustainable.
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Respond to employees’ entries into our safety management system.
• QUALITY :
  • Demonstrate “Safety Excellence” by complying with all safety rules/processes and supporting the Safety Elements; contribute to the overall Safety Culture of the organization.
  • Represent Wieland Metal Services (WSV) with basic competency in quality knowledge.
  • Utilize problem-solving concepts, principles, and tools such as 8D, 5-Why, ishikawa diagrams, etc. to lead root cause investigations and corrective and preventative actions.
  • Follow up with foreman/supervisors and/or suppliers for implementation of corrective/interim/preventative actions.
  • Monitor gage calibration schedule and coordinate calibration activities as required.
  • Provide direction to shop floor personnel when potential defects or nonconformances are identified.
  • Perform interim containment actions regarding suspect/rejected material.
  • Participate in Managing Daily Improvement (MDI) meetings; provide timely and accurate data for Quality Metrics.
  • Prepare and maintain Quality Reports (customer and supplier complaints).
  • Communicate internal nonconformances/rejections to internal customers to insure minimal impact/disruption to external customers.
  • Support internal audit activities as required.
  • Collaborate with Quality and/or Continuous Improvement Manager on quality projects and tasks.
• Other related duties as required in support of the WSV QMS and business goals/objectives.

Safety and Quality Coordinator Qualifications:

• Safety and Quality experience or Manufacturing experience, preferably within the metals industry.
• Must be experienced in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Oracle and/or MS Access.
• Willingness to acquire knowledge in safety , quality and metals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to think analytically.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; able to lead/facilitate meetings & training sessions; able to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels of the organization.
