ROLE SUMMARY
The US Commercial Division is committed to evolving its go to market model to increase coordination around critical customers and channels, and to optimize activity across the Primary Care portfolio, spanning Vaccines, Antivirals and Diagnostics, Women's Health, Migraine and Internal Medicine. A fundamental area of focus are Retail partnerships, encompassing National Pharmacy Chains (e.g. CVS, Walgreens), Online Pharmacy (e.g. Capsule, Amazon Pharmacy), Mass Market Retailers (e.g. Walmart, Target) and Grocers (e.g. Kroger, Publix), each being a key step in the healthcare journey for millions of patients across America, vertically integrated stakeholders and increasingly, sites of care for a variety of primary healthcare services.
The Retail Channel Lead, US Primary Carewill report to the Head of Customer and Channels and will be responsible for developing, managing, and adapting Retail Strategy and execution planning for the Primary Care portfolio.
Working in close conjunct with Franchise teams, retail contracting and analytic functions, the lead and their team will be responsible for developing and growing Pfizer's Primary Care brands in Retail Channels and establishing closer partnerships with critical retail customers. This position will be accountable to senior levels of Pfizer US Commercial leadership and the Executive Leadership Team to form and maintain rich strategic plans for the Primary Care portfolio in each of Pfizer's major retail accounts, providing a single source of strategic insight and performance measurement for the Primary Care portfolio in the Retail Channel, and to prepare for and support top-to-top account management with senior stakeholders in priority accounts.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Retail Strategic Planning (Channel)
  • Develop and maintain an authoritative view of the Retail landscape, competitive environment, market trends, economic priorities and strategic incentives across chain pharmacy, mass market retailers and grocers where interfacing with Primary Care.
  • Establish portfolio priorities and opportunities for the US Commercial Division on an annual basis, in collaboration with Enterprise Strategy and Trade teams and Commercial Leadership input.

Retailer Strategic Planning (Customer)
  • Develop and maintain retailer-specific strategic plans for the Primary Care portfolio, aligned with Enterprise Trade, while focusing on the needs and opportunities of PCUS medicines, vaccines and patient journeys.
  • Ensure enterprise account plans reflect US Primary Care priorities and brand-specific objectives, and that there is a credible operational path to realize account goals and performance measures.
  • Measure impact on a semester basis and facilitate and adapt strategic planning and contracting objectives to reflect.

Retailer Partnerships
  • Working with Enterprise Trade, establish senior-level relationships in each priority retailer and develop, facilitate, and enhance top-to-top account management accordingly.
  • Support executive alignment, negotiation, contracting and pull-through, such that Pfizer and Retail partners form closer and more mutually effective working ties and ability to execute joint programs where applicable, and meet respective portfolio objectives through normal business.
  • In collaboration with the VP, Channel Management in US Market Access and VP, Retail Customer Facing Lead, within Primary Care, directly manage top-to-top executive planning and coordination across all major Retail accounts, aligning the work of Trade Account Directors, Primary Care Franchises, Access, Education and Programmatic Pull-Through and Annual Vaccine Contracting.

Portfolio and Brand Marketing Execution & Partnered Programs
  • Oversee management of the Primary Care Retail Portfolio Management Team, currently comprising 6 FTEs, and Retail Partnership Initiatives supporting specific brands and the US Primary Care Portfolio, including implementation of digital health initiatives (e.g. VAXASSIST).
  • Ensure the Retail Marketing Team are resourced and able to develop consumer and point-of-care programs and tactics, and customer-facing materials, to support portfolio (unbranded, disease state level) and brand-specific initiatives to be deployed either in specific retailers or across Retail Channels.
  • Empower and enable management of front-of-store creative development in conjunction with CMO, and back of store programs appropriately with the Medical organization.

Resource Allocation
  • Partner with US Primary Care Franchise teams to develop rigorous retail forecasts, based on evolving marketplace, competitive and contracting insights and determine optimal resource allocation across retailers and brands to reflect customer and portfolio priorities.
  • Manage aggregate Retail Marketing and Partnership budgets, delivering on media and spend efficiencies where available and securing best value implementation on behalf of Franchises.
  • Ensure marketing activities are held accountable to deliver on or above-target ROI and that disciplined planning processes are conducted at every key stage in the operating plan calendar and approaching major LE windows.

Channel Insights and Performance Reporting
  • Establish a single point of focus for US Primary Care on Retail Channel (aggregate) and portfolio and brand (specific) performance.
  • Partner with key enabling teams in CMO, Enterprise Trade and Digital to provide routine and user-friendly insights and reporting to Primary Care franchise teams and stakeholders.
  • Convene regular data and insight review forums and use structured output to refine strategic and account planning, and forward resource allocation decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience, 13+ years with MBA, 10+ years with PhD/PharmD
  • Experience in US Healthcare, specific to employer and/or US market access preferred.
  • Deep and consistently proven experience in US Retail, ideally encompassing direct tenure at senior levels in either Retail Pharmacy and/or consumer retail chains directly, or within US Pharmaceuticals with direct accountability for the channel and with track record of interfacing with and managing pharmacy accounts.
  • Senior-level experience of consumer healthcare management, either directly via portfolio accountabilities or indirectly through consumer healthcare marketing or program responsibilities, covering understanding of consumer goods promotion in-store and associated category management
  • Direct contracting experience, ideally extending to include Vaccination contracting, distribution and pull-through and strong working knowledge of pharmacy benefit management, pharmacy services and in-store management.
  • Strategic planning, evaluation, and execution experience, including managing across complex internal management matrices and cross-functional teams to align planning and operational accountabilities.
  • Innovation mindset coupled with a proven track record of translating conceptual opportunities into concrete implementation and resulting programs, yielding direct improvements for patients.
  • Analytical thinker, able to organize, process and act on dynamic information flows, and communicate observed trends and insights to senior leaders to inform decision making and actions.
  • Experienced team manager, with pedigree for setting strong cultures of trust and collaboration and reputation for working well with adjacent peer and cross-organizational stakeholders, given the matrixed nature of Pfizer Retail management.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $226,200.00 to $377,000.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
