HVAC & Building Controls Commissioning Specialist
9-12 month plus assignment
Location: Remote with travel to job sites.
Requires travel to project location for short periods of time.
Travel: All over the continental US for short periods of time (couple of days, couple weeks, a month at each site.). Expenses covered as incurred. Flight, rental car, food, lodging.
Duration and current projects: Subject to project needs; currently there are 27 projects all over the US and they go where they are needed as projects are opened and closed (currently, just to name a few: Boston, Newark (NJ), Maryland, El Paso, Alabama, eastern shore of VA).
This is a Field job Hands on Commissioning of HVAC and Building controls which requires climbing ladders and testing equipment, etc. You will also need to be able to use a computer and be fluent in Microsoft programs, particularly Excel and Microsoft Project.
Our client provides Energy Efficiency upgrades for building HVAC Mechanical, Electrical and Building Control systems.
- Looking for someone with 5+ years in the field experienced with HVAC and Building Controls Commissioning, installation, maintenance, and testing.
- Experience with functional and operational testing along with QC checks.
Will need to Adhere to site safety requirements as needed. (PPE, safety glass, work boots, high vis vest.)
The Commissioning Specialist will support Company's internal and external stakeholders by coordinating, and delivering commissioning services throughout the facility planning, design, construction, warranty, and performance phases of the project. The Commissioning Specialist will apply technical expertise to deliver technical solutions to complex problems.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of commissioning process with sales, engineering, and construction teams.
  • Coordinates and directs the commissioning activities using consistent protocols and forms, centralized documentation, clear and regular communications and consultations with all necessary parties, frequently updated timelines and schedules and technical expertise.
  • Review and comment on subcontractor submittals applicable to systems being commissioned for compliance with commissioning needs, concurrent with the engineering reviews.
  • With necessary assistance and review from construction team and subcontractors, write the functional performance test procedures for equipment and systems. This may include energy management control system trending, stand-alone data logger monitoring or manual functional testing.
  • Analyze any functional performance trend logs and monitor data to verify performance.
  • Responsible for preparation of progress reports, equipment checklist, commissioning logs, and final commissioning reports.
  • Ensure that the commissioning process meets project long-term energy performance guarantees.
  • Maintain accountability for project schedule and cost requirements.
  • Develop constructive and long-lasting relationships with subcontractors and customers.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Progressive experience in electrical, mechanical and energy services contracting.
  • Strong technical background with building automation and control systems. Able to review sequence of operations for electrical and mechanical systems and to perform point-to-point commissioning. (I.E. Siemens, Andover, Automated Logic, Honeywell, Johnson Controls..etc)
  • Ability to do building commissioning, retro, and re-commissioning of existing buildings, system by system commissioning requirements, Testing, Adjustment and Balancing (TAB) and verification procedures, building code issues is required.
  • Must be proficient in computer and software such as MS Project, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Building Automation System and commissioning program.
  • Must be able to work with commissioning tools and technologies. .
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel and work off-hours as required by the project.

Other

  • Applicants for employment must be US citizens and be able to pass background screens, due to the nature of who we work for.
  • Applicants must be able to work a full day on a project site, combining sitting, standing, walking, and in front of the monitor.
  • Applicants must be able to stand, climb ladders, and stairs, and get to wherever the problem is so they can see it for themselves.
