Contract: The position is based on hourly compensation, with the number of annual hours to be determined and with leave as defined in the Classified Employees' Handbook.
Professional Growth: The receptionist is encouraged to attend professional growth opportunities which directly relate to the secretary's area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school diploma, with post-secondary education preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Skilled in public relations.
- Competent with computer / software operations.
- Prompt in job-related functions and punctual in work schedule.
- Effective organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Adherence to ethical work habits, including confidentiality.
- Other, as immediate supervisor deems appropriate and necessary.
Traits / Skills:
- Proficient in typing, word processing, file maintenance, computers, bookkeeping, and use of general office equipment.
- Knowledgeable regarding school district organization and operations.
- Cooperative with others, including supervisors, peers, teachers, parents, and students.
- Poised and self controlled in decision making and problem solving.
- Groomed and dressed appropriately for the position and responsibility.
Job Functions:
- Assist students, teachers, and parents, as appropriate.
- Receive incoming calls; reliably take message and route to appropriate staff and/or students.
- Perform receptionist and bookkeeping duties as required.
- Maintain up-to-date records on textbooks regarding teacher and/or student check out.
- Maintain up-to-date records of student lockers.
- Maintain up-to-date records of student car tags.
- Assist with attendance clerk duties in the absence of the attendance clerk.
- Make copies, as needed; keep copy machines operating by contacting District Education Center personnel for needed repairs.
- Maintain a log of visitors to GBHS.
- Develop a monthly newsletter for parents of GBHS students.
- Participate in staff development.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and data.
- Provide all completed forms and information required by the district administrative offices.
- Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
