Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job position is to handle the reception desk duties of the facility in accordance with current acceptable customer service policies and procedures relating to the long-term care operation in a pleasant and helpful manner. Other specific job duties not related to the reception desk and customer service may also be directed by the Administration.
Delegation of Authority
As Receptionist, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
- Assist in implementing the day-to-day administrative functions of the
- Greet all entering visitors in a pleasant manner, offering and providing assistance with a helpful and kind
- Answer and route all in-coming phone calls to the facility in a pleasant and helpful manner; take and deliver messages in a timely manner to Dept heads for their dept
- Handle Accounts Payable, if assigned, and any other specified duties as outlined in facility policies and procedures and directed by the
- Handle Personnel functions as specifically assigned, and any other specified duties as outlined in facility policies and procedures and directed by the
- Handle Safety Team functions and documentation requirements, if assigned, and any other specified duties as outlined in facility policies and procedures and directed by the
- Handle computer and software/hardware responsibilities regarding facility systems as assigned; perform functions of computer/data processor as necessary.
- Make written and oral reports/recommendations concerning assigned
- Ensure all required paperwork is properly completed and
- Assist in the implementation of changes in systems as necessary or
- Perform secretarial functions as necessary or directed for all facility
Staff Development Functions
- Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc. as directed, to keep abreast of current changes in the long-term care field as
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the
- Attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and blood borne pathogens as well as all other mandatory in-services and
Safety and Sanitation Functions
- Follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
- Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies to prevent work-related injuries and
Equipment and Supply Functions
- Ensure that an adequate supply of office supplies and equipment are on hand to meet the day-to-day operational needs of the facility as
- Report equipment and office supply
- Request repairs for office equipment as
Patients’ Rights Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient
- Follow facility’s established patient rights and privacy
- Ensure that the patient’s rights and employee rights to fair and equitable treatment, self- determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, are well established and maintained at all
Working Conditions
- Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility, moving intermittently during working
- Is subject to frequent interruptions under all conditions/circumstances, involving patients, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel,
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, personnel, and
- Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and call-back situations (severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, ) when necessary.
- Attends and participates in continuing education
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, , throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, , including TB, Covid variants, AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses, and hazardous chemicals.

Educational Requirements
- Must possess, as a minimum, a High School Diploma, or E.D.
