GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Receptionist is the first point of contact for customers and other visitors to the bank. This position is responsible for assisting visitors when possible and routing them to others when appropriate. The Receptionist answers incoming calls and provides additional administrative support for the office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Greet individual and direct them to the proper department or employee. May answer general questions relating to financial institutions services or arrange appointments as necessary. This duty is performed daily, about 50% of the time.
2. Answer telephones, direct phone calls to appropriate person, or take messages. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.
3. Perform administrative duties, such as typing, filing, or routine clerical work, and mail handling. This duty is performed daily, about 15% of the time.
4. Receive shipments and packages and directs them to the proper department or employee. Coordinate outbound shipments. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
5. Ensures reception area is neat and orderly. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
6. Maintain confidentiality. This duty is performed daily.
7. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times. This duty is performed daily.
8. Regular and good attendance to work required. This duty is performed daily.
9. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
10. Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed as needed.
11. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out simple multi-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with limited variables.
