Real Estate Accounting Manager/Controller, Schaumburg, IL

With a portfolio of 1.5 million square feet of Real Estate across five different states, we are dedicated to expanding our revenue and achieving ambitious targets, aiming to reach $100 million revenue within the next 3-5 years.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an exceptional Accounting Manager with prior experience (7 to 18 years) in handling accounts for Commercial Real Estate entities, to join our dynamic team and take charge of our financial operations. This critical role will be instrumental in driving our financial growth and providing strategic guidance to propel our organization towards its revenue targets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Real Estate finance, an acute attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams across multiple locations.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with our growth objectives, considering market trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish financial targets, budgets, and long-term financial plans.
2. Financial Management and Reporting:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis.
- Monitor and analyze key financial metrics to identify trends and provide actionable insights to management.
3. Accounting and Compliance:
- Supervise the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, adherence to accounting principles, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Review and analyze financial statements, general ledger entries, and reconciliations to maintain strong financial controls.
4. Billing and Collections:
- Implement and improve billing and collections processes to enhance cash flow management and reduce outstanding receivables.
- Work closely with teams to address billing discrepancies, resolve client inquiries, and ensure timely payments.
5. Financial Leadership and Collaboration:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, providing financial guidance and insights to support decision-making.
- Foster collaboration and effective communication with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and legal departments, to drive financial efficiency and alignment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; a master's degree or CPA qualification is preferred.
- Proven experience (6-10 years) as a Financial Controller or similar role in the Real Estate industry, demonstrating a track record of driving financial growth.
- Strong knowledge of Real Estate finance, including property valuation, investment analysis, and lease accounting.
- Proficiency in financial management systems and tools, along with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a diverse team.
