Ultrasound Technologist
Primary Accountability
Perform obstetrical, gynecological, and thyroid ultrasound services on patients under the direction of the supervisor.
The successful candidate will have ARDMS Certification and 5+ years of OB/GYN sonography experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing ultrasounds and preparing preliminary reports.
- Ensures proper patient identification using patient identifiers per national patient safety goals
- requirements.
- Provides instructions to patients to prepare for the sonogram, explaining the procedure and the information to be obtained.
- Performs ultrasound examinations on patients, deviating from regular techniques to adapt each exam to the patient or circumstance as needed.
- Labels all images appropriately, recording patient information and scan measurements.
- Prepares and submits preliminary reports to the supervising provider on the day the ultrasound was performed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment and patient handling.
- Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department.
- Maintains clean examination room.
- Operates ultrasound equipment using appropriate techniques, transducers, and ancillary equipment.
- Learns and uses the Electronic Health Record (EPIC) and its components as required by job functions and highlighted in the policies and procedures.
- Attends appropriate in-service training and staff meetings.
- Documents in the EPIC under the direction of the physician.
- Drops CPT changes under the appropriate ICD- diagnosis and enters ICD- codes.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Promotes and monitors compliance with Joint Commission requirements in high-level disinfection (HLD) and sterilization of instruments.
- Ensures safety and effectiveness of HLD and sterilization processes.
- Responsible for performing high-level disinfection (HLD) and sterilization of instruments, as assigned.
- Performs HLD and sterilization processes safely and effectively through adherence to manufacturer's instructions for use and evidence-based guidelines.
MBCHC has two locations on Miami Beach and one in North Miami. Services provided include internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, HIV/AIDS services, dental, endocrinology, ophthalmology and optometry, psychiatry and behavioral health, podiatry, and geriatrics. All three locations have laboratory and pharmacy services. MBCHC pharmacies have 340B pricing. Free medication is available for patients through pharmaceutical company patient assistance programs for those who qualify. Free transportation and translation services are also available for those who need them. In addition, we offer assistance with case management such as enrollment in health insurance from the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”), enrollment in Medicare, and Healthy Start prenatal services.
