We are seeking a dynamic Permanent Purchasing Assistant to join our fast-paced construction team. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our projects, from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction, project management, setting up bids and contracts, following projects from start to finish, and permit processing and tracking. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects and to be part of a team that values continuous learning and growth.
Responsibilities:
1. Support project teams by sourcing materials and services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
2. Prepare and process purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
3. Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms and delivery conditions.
4. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and specifications.
5. Set up bids and contracts, negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
6. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
7. Coordinate permit processing and tracking, ensuring all necessary permits are obtained and valid.
8. Follow projects from start to finish, maintaining a comprehensive record of all purchasing activities.
9. Assist in the development of a company-wide procurement strategy.
10. Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and contractors.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the engineering or construction industry.
2. Proven experience in project management, setting up bids and contracts, and permit processing and tracking.
3. Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
4. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing management software.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
7. Detail-oriented with the ability to follow projects through from inception to completion.
8. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
9. Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards is a plus.
