Our People & Places Solutions Group is seeking a Project Coordinatorto join our team and support a community water system service line inventory project throughout the state of WI.
Summary of Position:
All public community water systems are required to complete an initial Lead Service Line (LSL) Inventory and submit to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) by October 16, 2024, a federal deadline mandated under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) (EPA, 2021). Any pipes that connect the water main or a well to the interior plumbing of a building are considered water service lines and must be included in the inventory.
More than 400 of the approximate 1,100 community water systems in WI have been offered technical assistance to prepare a LSL inventory by the federal deadline, at no cost to the water system. The technical assistance to the water systems is being provided by Jacobs, on behalf of the DNR, and includes an onsite visit to conduct records review, development of the LSL inventory and preparation of an Inventory Improvement Plan. The LSL inventories must: 1) identify every water service in the distribution system, and 2) classify the materials for each water service as lead, galvanized requiring replacement, non-lead or lead status unknown.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of this position are to support the project management team in completing LSL inventories statewide by:
- Conducting onsite visits with water system personnel, interviewing staff and obtaining information regarding the construction of the water distribution system
- Capturing digital copies of physical records, when available, that provide information on the physical address, date of installation, diameter and material of water services lines
- Conducting pre- and post- site visit correspondence with water systems
- Assisting project managers in tracking progress of onsite visits and data collection
- Participating in project management team meetings providing observations and suggesting process improvements
- Assisting project managers in planning and scheduling onsite visits (if requested)
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or a related management, construction or technical field
• Ten (10) years of experience in project coordination, project management, construction management, or facilities management
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to identify and solve problems effectively by making sound, well-informed decisions.
• Ability to use available technology and software such as spreadsheets and database software to work more efficiently.
• Ability to respond positively and adapt work methods to changing information and conditions, and unexpected obstacles.

Ideally, you'll also have:
• Understanding of local, state and federal regulation and permitting processes and construction requirements
