Project Coordinator for the Community-Based Gun Violence Reduction Project at the University of New Haven
This is a grant funded two-year position due to begin in November 2023
Salary: $65,000
This full-time Project Coordinator position will require the following:
- Collaborate and work with project team, staff, and students to fully implement and schedule de-escalation trainings with New Haven police departments
- Collaborate and work with project team, staff, and students to fully implement and schedule focus groups and trainings with healthcare personnel at New Haven-based federally-qualified healthcare centers, hospital emergency departments, and ambulance services (Paramedics/EMTs).
- Coordinate outreach to the health facilities and New Haven Police Department with the Principal Investigators
- Coordinate individual trauma training materials with instructors and focus group materials with Principal Investigators
- Support health promotion specialist to develop health education materials for healthcare providers related to gun violence prevention strategies
- Itemize and track expenses associated with overall program cost, travel, and training session expenditures.
- Coordinate information on trainers in partnered agencies, including resumes, contact information, training sessions held
- Arrange meetings, workshops and colloquia with other administrators, faculty, advisory boards, and students including site reservations, orders of food or refreshments as necessary
- Schedule and serve as recording personnel for meetings with internal and external individuals/groups
- Detailed record keeping on each training and focus group session conducted
- Making or assisting with travel accommodations for instructors
- Work directly for the Principal Investigators and perform tasks and responsibilities as needed
- All related duties as assigned

- Critical thinking with problem-solving practice and patience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of personal and sensitive information
- Autonomy and independence in working with limited direction to completion of tasks
- Must be professional and courteous in all interactions and communications, capable of handling confidential matters; demonstrate consistently strong interpersonal skills; and can work collaboratively with a diverse community of faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
- This position requires an individual who is detail oriented and able to work efficiently in a busy environment while successfully handling multiple priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree from an accredited university preferred
- Must have at least three years of professional or administrative experience.
- Knowledge of the structure and organization of law enforcement agencies, healthcare facilities, or public health preferred.
- Familiarity and experience working within grant-funded program/project preferred
- Understanding of grant-based program/project deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements
- Able to provide own transportation
- Willing to work a full-time, hybrid and flexible schedule as a temporary hire for grant period
