POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Student Engagement and School Support, the Program Coordinator- Restorative Practices provides district-wide oversight of the planning, implementation, monitoring and expansion of Restorative Practices in Prince George's County Public Schools to facilitate positive school environments by transforming punitive disciplinary practices into pro-social supportive behaviors.

Salary Range: $60,587 - $135,592

Detailed Description
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Develop a strategic design for implementation, monitoring, training and evaluation of the Restorative Practices program for the county;
Establish measurable goals and objectives for the program in accordance with the program's design and implementation plan;
Coordinate the district-wide Restorative Practices program in collaboration with the national, federal, state, county, local, school and community-based partners to eliminate disproportionate discipline and create positive school environments;
Collaborate with other district initiatives to align, enhance, and expand Restorative Practices for improved student attendance, achievement, and behavior;
Collaborate with principals for the consideration of implementation, monitoring and progress of Restorative Practices in their buildings;
Develop training modules addressing restorative justice practices and provide training on restorative justice to both school-based and non-school-based staff;
Develop programmatic guiding documents to include processes, procedures, surveys, templates, reporting tools, and program evaluations;
Recruit, train, coach and support school-based Restorative Practices facilitators in schools;
Conduct on-site observations and provide appropriate feedback to school-based facilitators and administrators; evaluate the performance of assigned school-based facilitators and provide technical assistance;
Attend trainings and collaborative sessions to share best practices and disseminate knowledge;
Establish effective methods of communication with schools/staff implementing Restorative Practices; provide continual information regarding best practices and strategies for problem solving;
Provide written and oral reports on the status of implementation, progress of the program in accordance with the plan design, and make recommendations for expansion;
Attend department meetings; represent the Student Services Department at district/community meetings; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Thorough knowledge of Restorative Practices philosophy, strategies, research and program design;
Demonstrated experience in Restorative Practices training, circles, and community conferencing;
Effective human relations and interpersonal skills; systems and etiquette that support excellent customer service;
Demonstrated skills in report writing and record-keeping techniques, as well as presentation, communication, and public speaking techniques;
Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and Google Applications; ability to use Google Hangout and other online meeting tools.
Demonstrated skill and knowledge in designing, implementing, and evaluating major programs and activities to bring about needed change and higher performance;
Effective oral and written skills in communicating with students, staff, community, district personnel and Board members in a timely, clear and appropriate manner; and
Ability to use diversified approaches and processes to involve others in generating solutions, predicting consequences and setting priorities;
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology, sociology, organizational leadership or a related field, and five (5) years successful experience in an educational setting required. Demonstrated experience in Restorative Practices preferred.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education; Administration I certification preferred.Certification in Restorative Practices preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
