The Safe Ride Foundation is Frederick County, Maryland’s sole nonprofit organization working to address gaps in local public transportation. By addressing issues such as impaired driving, access to human services, and transportation limitations for low-income families, our mission for the past decade has been to be a pioneer in transportation innovation, supported by a community of volunteers and local stakeholders.
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Program Coordinator to join our team. As a Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for conducting operational tasks for a newly launched program within our organization, as well as overseeing the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers for the program. This role requires strong administrative skills, the ability to work with diverse populations, and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.
Duties
Your main responsibilities in this position will be Program coordination, volunteer recruitment, volunteer training and volunteer retention – in other words:
- Implement program goals, objectives, and strategies
- Coordinate program activities and ensure they are executed effectively
- Provide guidance and support for program users and volunteers
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance program services
- Conduct regular evaluations to assess program effectiveness
- Implement strategies to recruit volunteers from diverse backgrounds to meet the organization's needs
- Utilize various recruitment channels, including social media, online platforms, community events, and partnerships with local organizations, to attract potential volunteers
-Conduct outreach and networking efforts to engage individuals and groups interested in volunteering
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment events, information sessions, and orientations to provide prospective volunteers with information about the organization and available opportunities
- Maintain a database of volunteers, including contact information, skills, interests, and availability
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred (equivalent of high school diploma and 2 years of experience in related position)
- Strong administrative skills, including record keeping
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
- Proven experience in volunteer recruitment, preferably in a nonprofit or community organization
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Proven experience in program management and development preferred
