Job description


District of Columbia Bar is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Washington, DC

The Programs Office oversees the D.C. Bar’s signature events, including the Celebration of Leadership Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner, the District of Columbia Judicial & Bar Conference, and other collaborations with leaders in the legal profession. The Program Coordinator provides planning support for these events. The role also provides administrative, customer service, and staffing support across the Programs Office. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•Provides support for the Bar’s multiple and concurrent internal and external events and meetings under the purview of the Programs Office.

•Staffs Programs events and meetings. 

•Responds to member and volunteer requests through email and phone calls. 

•Collaborates within the Programs Office and larger Programs Department on special projects.

•Creates lists and actions of historical meetings and event data to predict future trends, develop target marketing lists, and solicit attendance.

•Conducts research to support the development of internal systems, the acquisition of external resources, and the implementation of best practices for event planning and production processes. 

•Assists with coordinating voluntary bar and committee meetings and supports outreach initiatives and platforms to help build awareness and engagement.

•Prepares summaries of upcoming events, initiatives, biographies, nominations, and other pertinent materials relating to the voluntary bars. Conducts research and collaborates with staff and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and comprehensive information.

•Serves as a liaison to IT, Facilities, MEP, and Communications for Programs Office events and meetings. 

•Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•Relevant work experience. 

•Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the District of Columbia.

•Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.

•Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

•Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact with Bar members, volunteers, vendors, the public, and Bar employees. 

•Must work well under pressure, possess excellent organizational abilities, and be able to manage several priorities in a day. 

•Must be detail oriented and deadline driven. Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

•Must be adaptable, creative, and self-motivated.

•Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor’s degree.

•Two years or more of experience working in a membership association, nonprofit organization, or within the legal profession.

•Prior meeting and event planning experience.

This position is currently a hybrid position, with days worked in the office and days worked remotely. Managers determine what days are required to work in the office. The hybrid status of this position may change at any time subject to the Bar’s discretion.
