Thrive Freeze Dry, a rapidly growing freeze-dried company, has an immediate opening for a Production Material Planning and Scheduling Manager in our Modesto facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Production Material Planning and Scheduling Manager is a key part of the leadership team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
The Production Scheduling Manager is responsible for the Production Scheduling of the plant production working closely with the Plant Planner. Working with their team, they ensure the production schedule achieves the attainment of our customer service levels. The Manager formulates and establishes long- and short-range production schedules utilizing a rolling eight-week schedule. Obtains input from Human Resources, Production, and Physical Distribution which is used to determine where and when products will be processed. Managers the production schedule in an efficient manner to optimize cost, service, efficiency, and provide appropriate inventory levels.
The Manager will work closely with the internal team (Sales, Customer Service, Plant Planner for Freeze Dry Operations, Operations Director, Shift Supervisors, Buyers, Quality Control and Inventory Control) to deliver a rolling eight-week schedule. This associate will maintain appropriate stock for all items within a three-month forecast, trouble shoot day-to-day issues, and ensure proper inventory of all items. Evaluate and execute changes to call off lead times to ensure uninterrupted delivery of materials.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Prepares long and short-term production plan and production orders to optimize capacity output.
Establishes and maintains all of the key metrics such as lead time, yield rate and lot sizes for planning replenishment orders.
Ensures compliance with formulated planning strategies, policies, and procedures.
With team, reports any non-compliance order issues to Customer Service.
In conjunction with the Production Planner monitors floor stocking agreements and determines balanced safety stock levels for all finished, in-process and raw materials.
Advises Plant Manager and Supervision of anticipated increases or decreases in productivity which could require additional/reductions in manpower.
Communicates daily with Warehouse Manager and staff regarding all matters that affect finished goods, inventories, orders, and shipments.
Manages Maintenance/Engineering downtime requirements with production.
Manages Production for product promotions and new products.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in production material planning and scheduling departments
Supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of food manufacturing operations with excellent oral and written communication skills. Associate must possess excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, tact, patience, persuasiveness, tenacity, and be able to work with frequent interruptions.
Must be comfortable interacting with a range of people. The individual should be well informed, a disciplined thinker and able to adapt quickly.
Excellent analytical skills with the organizational skills to manage high volumes of information in an orderly documented manner.
Self-motivated independent thinker able to perform multiple tasks without direct supervision.
Must have full understanding of Bills of Material (BOM's), and their affectivity dates.
Knowledge of finished goods schedule, line rates, pack mixes, plant capacities, seasonal trends, and promotional activities.
Must understand raw and packaging specifications, suppliers, and lead times.
Demonstrated knowledge of material resource planning in ERP System (Just Foods or Business Central preferred),
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and some fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 50% or more sitting, 50% or more walking, and 50% or more standing.
The job is performed under frequent temperature variations and in a food manufacturing warehouse environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift to 30 lbs. is required.
