Job Description:
The role is a crucial part of ensuring our Organics Recycling business is cost-effective in managing inbound and outbound flow of recyclable materials. Our company purpose is "For our sustainable customer success, we give organic waste a new life and make the world a better place". Balancing the expected quantity and quality of inbound materials with the most cost-effective outbound solutions, will be the main purpose of this role. Your role as Production Planner is to effectively forecast outbound material flows, relative to outbound material flows. The Company receives a range of inbound materials and produces slurries destined to either Farm animals or Anaerobic Digestion facilities. In this role, you will become an expert in the balancing act of planning which outbound materials are to be produced given an expected inbound volume and material types, and cost-efficiency. The inbound material scheduling will be a critical part of the job role, coordinating and managing the supply chain while focusing on logistic fees (detention time penalties) minimization. The role will be responsible for ensuring safe and compliant work practices and effective resource planning. The position will require working closely with the operations and commercial teams to successfully manage and moderate the flow of inbound deliveries and outbound shipments.
Essential Functions:
• Collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to find cost-effective sources for outbound materials such as slurries (for anaerobic digestion and farms), recyclable non-organics and non-recoverable materials (MSW).
• Works closely with dispatch to ensure effective route assignment and scheduling using the company's transportation management system.
• Actively seeks and communicates improvement opportunities to address problems at customer sites, repairs, container swaps, and safety issues reported by drivers.
• Actively seeks cost-saving and revenue generating opportunities regarding route planning and outbound material outlets.
• Seeks to optimize the logistics structure, moderating the activities of the operational and commercial teams.
• Monitors 3rd party rates to proactively ensure PreZero has up to date and competitive price schemes.
• Implements pricing strategies alongside commercial team.
• Works with dispatch to generate a route profitability spreadsheet to monitor each route's performance.
• Monitors site inventory and generates production schedule based on incoming materials by pre-classifying the potential outbound material types.
• Actively communicates with the commercial and operations team to forecast and plan for inbound materials volumes and categories.
• Actively issues the most cost-effective production plan to operations, based on inbound material volumes and categories.
• Actively communicates with the commercial and operations team to meet forecasted outbound material volumes.
• Responsible for completing and submitting a monthly load-inspection report, documenting hazardous and materials.
• Responsible for auditing the quality of inbound materials.
• Responsible for auditing the quality of outbound materials (material moisture content, load capacity utilization etc.).
• Monitors and reports on accumulated detention fees, and customer non-conformances.
Requirements
• 3-5 years' experience in logistics and production planning, or supply-chain management.
• Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Knowledge of regulatory agencies' clauses such as DOT, FMCSA OSHA, FDA.
• Experience in using Samsara for fleet management is an advantage (training opportunities available within the Company).
• Exposure to using SAP Business One is an advantage (training opportunities available within the Company).
• Former Hazwoper training is an advantage (training opportunities available within the Company).
Competencies:
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is an advantage.
