We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Section Manager in Griffin, GA.
The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

As a Section Manager at Caterpillar, you will supervise and provide leadership to warehouse associates and team leads. We are looking for individuals with a desire to help drive business improvements, results and develop their career in Caterpillar. A willingness to relocate to maximize career opportunities would be beneficial in this position as well as an openness to explore career development paths in other functional areas such as manufacturing engineering, supply chain, transportation etc in the future.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Creating reports and records of production processes, tools issues performance, and inventory; sharing them with managers and providing suggestions to improve safety, productivity and quality.
Preparing, maintaining, and updating documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards; ensuring all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
Supervising and directing the daily activities of production lines workers, assigning tasks, ensuring coordination between different teams, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance.
Training new hires, managing scheduling and work conflicts, monitoring safety, and promoting internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies. Develops and analyzes logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory. Manages logistics processes through process improvement, prioritization. Implements and maintains monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.
Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers. Maintains warehouse equipment. Analyzes and update material routings. Assists in implementing mechanization approaches and techniques in a manufacturing environment. Collects and translates the business requirements for specifications of warehouse management improvements.
Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services. Defines the critical workflow for executing key processes. Identifies process problems that limit performance. Implements methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes. Focuses on the most significant problems to maximize efficiency gains. Surfaces systemic problems to be addressed at the organizational level.
Talent Management: Knowledge of human resources and talent management processes; ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward employees at the workplace. Delegates tasks to the right people in managing a program or a group of people. Explains processes on hiring, leading, motivating, evaluating, developing and rewarding people. Coordinates work schedules and workloads for employees. Transforms resistance into support and turns poor performers into team players. Applies standard procedures and policies in the operation of talent management.
Top Candidates will also have:
Bachelors degree
Experience in Warehousing, Manufacturing, Logistics
Team lead or other leadership experience
SAP, MTS, Microsoft Office experience
Additional Information:
The hours for this position are 1st shift (8:00am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday)
Section Managers may need to work outside the regularly scheduled hours due to increased needs of the business
This position is located in Griffin, GA and may offer domestic relocation
