Production Process Engineer

In this position you will work with the manufacturing plant’s production departments to ensure that goods are efficiently and skillfully made, maintaining U-Haul’s high standards of quality. Primary Responsibilities:

· Develop and update bill of materials for use by process, production, and planning teams as needed, as well as update the bill of materials master spreadsheet

· Assist in drawing interpretation, tooling requirement identification, preparation of work instructions, design specifications, fabrication, quality assurance, etc.

• Determine what tools, jigs, fixtures and other new or special equipment are required to maintain production results. Design this equipment as needed.
• Ensure maximum utilization of equipment and facilities. Responsible for plant layout, including placement of the equipment, machinery, conveyor systems etc. to provide maximum possible operating efficiency
• Maintain current drawings in the production print decks and the repair print files. Order new prints, as necessary. Screen incoming engineering changes to the prints and notify the appropriate personnel of the changes.
• Work as a team with all levels and functional areas of the organization.

· Place machine shop and tooling orders as needed.

· Coordinate with machine programmers to update and troubleshoot any necessary software.

· Provide training and guidance to team members.

· Follow, support, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with all applicable guidelines.

· Review processes for efficiency and troubleshoot production issues as they arise.

· Consistently seek improvement in process and product efficiency.

· Other duties as deemed appropriate by Management to support the business plan.

Production Process Engineer Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering or equivalent experience.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

· Metal fabrication component knowledge preferred but not required.

• Experience in 3D CAD modeling and drawing (Inventor/SolidWorks), AutoCAD software and sheet metal is preferred.

· Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of mechanical aptitude.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods both indoors and outdoors of remaining stationery, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
