SalaryMillcreek Community Hospital, an EEOC employee, is searching for a PRN Switchboard/ Front Desk operator position. This position is required to have Weekend availability and Holiday coverage during 3rd shift hours (11-730p).
Summary: The Switchboard Operator is responsible to answer, screen and route all incoming calls; relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls appropriately; receive and respond to emergency calls, monitor alarms and respond according to prescribed procedures. The operator will provide excellent customer service seeking to meet customer needs, expectations, and demands quickly and effectively. The operator must work efficiently and professionally in a fast paced, sometimes stressful work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Confidently utilize the Telephone System to answer, connect, and transfer calls.
Respond efficiently and calmly to all hospital emergency calls (such as fire alarms, and emergency codes) by notifying appropriate personnel, and overhead paging, following established procedures.
Provide information to callers, visitors and Health System staff within the limits of HIPAA.
Speak clearly, politely and respectfully to patients, visitors, and Health System staff when conveying information using correct grammar.
Remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult situations; receiving complaints and taking action to remedy the complaint; and treating the customer with respect.
Contact physicians and other Hospital personnel as appropriate according to established procedures.
Expedite calls by using cell phones, voice paging as required.
Complete tasks as assigned by the Team Leader.
Perform other related duties as requested.
