Our Settle client in Eastlake is looking for a hybrid Payroll Manager to join their team. The Payroll Manager will oversee and direct non-bargaining unit and bargaining unit payroll, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations; oversee and direct completion of all benefits including pension benefits, health & welfare benefits, 401k deductions and other voluntary deductions; maintain accurate payroll records; and supervise payroll team. Understand and maintain payroll system set-up rules and specs. Complete and maintain staffing information used by Senior Leadership.
Primary Responsibilities for the hybrid Payroll Manager include:
Oversee the preparation of bi-weekly bargaining unit and semi-monthly non-bargaining unit payrolls, federal and state tax payments, benefit processing, and other ad hoc reporting needs.
Run reports, compile, and summarize payroll data, and conduct analysis to ensure payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Use in-depth knowledge of payroll, timekeeping, and regulatory best practices to ensure proper controls are in place for regulatory compliance and audit reporting.
Prepare and/or review the accuracy of payroll-related journal entries and reports.
Serve as Ceridian Dayforce subject matter expert to assist in resolving technical issues and escalate larger issues to the software support group and/or internal stakeholders for resolution.
Serve as the subject matter expert for multiple Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), time & attendance, entitlement policies, and Company policies. Ability to understand and direct reports on how to apply these contracts and rules to timesheets, payroll and benefits.
Provide direction to the payroll team regarding resolution of any Ceridian Dayforce errors related to payroll and benefits administration.
Partner with HR to resolve complex payroll and benefit issues, meet regulatory requirements, and assist employees.
Collaborate with HR and other departments as applicable to create, modify, and provide improved coordination, processing and reporting of information.
Complete and maintain staffing information (captured by job, location, etc.) and reports utilized by Senior Leadership.
Provide bargaining unit employee data reports and labor statistic information utilized by Senior Leadership during CBA negotiations.
Supervise work completed by direct reports (currently 2 FTEs), ensuring appropriate quality and timeliness.
Assist with completion of payroll and benefits processing in event of absence of direct reports.
Provide guidance to direct reports on payroll requirements and provide constructive feedback to promote associate and Company success.
Other applicable duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications for the hybrid Payroll Manager include:
10+ years of experience within payroll and 3+ years of previous management experience required.
Demonstrated and thorough knowledge of the end-to-end payroll function including payroll processing, retros and off-cycle payments, auditing, accounting, general ledger reconciliation, tax filings, and adherence to controls.
Strong MS Excel and Office skills.
Great organizational skills with ability to multitask.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary range of $106,704 – 144,360. Pay is dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications.
