Payroll Clerk

Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk administers payroll for the employees of Signature Health Services. These responsibilities include executing and validating bi-weekly gross to net pay calculations, ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of pay and deductions, in addition to administering the benefit programs to include enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, and approving invoices for payment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to supervisor & CFO.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Manage and schedule employee benefits enrollment and insurance premium processing.
- Coordinate and correspond with various internal and external agencies and benefit plan administrators, directors and staff.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge and expertise in employee benefits services, makes recommendations on pending actions regarding benefits, conducts benefits research, responds to benefits issues and answers benefits queries from staff.
- Assists employees with questions regarding all benefits issues and assists employees in resolving claims issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Experience with Federal and State employee benefit laws involving employee benefits.
- Experience in home health is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with QuickBooks and payroll software.
Education and Experience:
- Extensive experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
