Payroll Administrator

Job Title: Payroll Specialist, Puyallup Washington (office)

Prospect Construction is a Heavy Civil Contractor that specializes in water and wastewater treatment plants, hydraulic structures/facilities, shoring systems, large concrete tanks, pump stations/process facilities, dewatering, major excavations, structural steel, process equipment, and mechanical systems. Prospect began as a General Contractor in 1998, with our first office location in Puyallup Washington. Over the last few decades, Prospect has coupled its expertise in complex projects with its vast level of self-performance to grow into one of the premier treatment plant contractors in the Northwest. This continued growth has allowed Prospect to bring our expertise into new geographical regions, with the establishment of our office in Missoula, Montana in the Fall of 2020 and the opening of our Sheridan, Wyoming Office in the Summer of 2023.

Prospect Construction is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team based out of either our Puyallup, WA or Missoula, MT locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties can include but are not limited to:

• Weekly review and processing of timecards for multi-state, multi-union cost coded payrolls for all union and non-union employees.
• Process employee changes in the payroll system including earnings additions/deductions, changes, and benefit accruals.
• Calculate manual payroll for terminations, special payments and garnishments as required.
• Ability to resolve timecard reporting issues and other issues related to payroll.
• Strong understanding of Federal and State wage and hour laws for the multiple states we work in.
• Maintaining personnel files and records
• Prepares and processes various weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual taxes as required.
• Weekly Certified Payroll Reports
• Retro Pay Processing, Layoff & Voided Checks
• Employment Verifications and Unemployment notices
• Union Reports, updating Union rates, and processing monthly union bills.
• Bonuses & Pay Increases
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Associate degree or higher in accounting / business/ related field or comparable work experience.
• Experience in Microsoft Office suite software, particularly Excel and
• Prior experience processing payroll in the construction field preferred.
• Prior experience with filing intents to pay prevailing wage, affidavits of wages paid, uploading certified payroll, and verifying uploaded subcontractor certified payroll preferred.

Physical Demands:

• This job requires the employee to sit, climb, stand, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
