Monroe Correctional Complex
FULL TIME - Permanent & Non-Permanent

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Office Assistant 3 (OA3) for Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC).
The Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) is a 1500 bed male all-custody level facility located 30 miles northeast of Seattle. Employing approximately 1000 staff, the complex consists of five major units: the Washington State Reformatory Unit (WSRU), Sky River Treatment Center (SRTC), a large mental health in patient treatment unit, Twin Rivers Unit (TRU), Intensive Management Unit (IMU), and the Minimum-Security Unit (MSU). Services provided at the Monroe Correctional Complex include custody and security, classification, education, incarcerated individual work programs, health care (both inpatient and outpatient), mental health care, sex offender treatment, food service, maintenance, personnel, recreation, volunteer services, religious services, library services, offender records, visiting and extended family visits.

Duties

Department of Corrections OA3’s keep our agency moving with their attention to detail and general administrative skill.

At the Monroe Correctional Complex, an adult male facility, this position works under general supervision, independently performing a variety of complex clerical projects and assignments, establishing manual or electronic record keeping/filing system and/or database files, and responding to inquiries requiring substantive knowledge of office/departmental policies and procedures in support of the Department of Corrections mission, to improve public safety.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Independently maintains and updates all programs in the Offender Management Network Information (OMNI) program.
  • Track all changes and the daily management wait list in concurrence with incarcerated individual work crew supervisors and classification counselors.
  • Enter library callouts and collect activity sheets weekly to enter in the callout system.
  • Assist in compiling minutes for Correctional Program Manager (CPM) activities and prepping for distribution.
  • Maintain all information regarding events, fundraisers, and unit movies.
  • Handle all aspects of incarcerated individual orientation and complete in OMNI.
  • Track incoming transfers to attend the orientation and schedule accordingly.
  • Provide coverage for receptionist position for breaks and absences as required.
  • Assist staff with information and supplies.
  • Provide occasional supervision of incarcerated individuals.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Correctional Program Manager and Secretary Supervisor
NOTE:
  • This position is located in an adult male correctional facility and has interactions with incarcerated individual maintenance crews.
  • Requires primarily data/entry desk work, however, may require standing or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk to all units and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications



REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year clerical/office experience
  • Must be able to type 40 words per minute
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in performance of job duties
  • Professional and respectful communication
  • Ability to work accurately and independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Exceptional customer service skills
PREFERRED
  • Two (2) years of clerical, keyboarding/typing and data entry experience.
  • Competent at performing general clerical duties.
  • Competent with computer programs such as Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Etc.
  • Ability to work independently; read, understand and interpret policies and procedures, work and communicate effectively with others.
