The System Administrator will be responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance and support of company hardware and software. They should have a broad spectrum of knowledge and an ability to diagnose and solve problems. Areas of expertise should include operating systems, server systems and services, security, networking and hardware. The system administrator must also possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work with less knowledgeable staff to resolve issues. They will operate under the supervision of the IT Director, but are expected to be able to function autonomously in most situations.
Job Responsibilities
- Learn the core functions of the walnut shelling processing facility to better understand future needs and projects.
- Monitor & maintain a small stack of physical server hosts and associated storage.
- Install, configure and maintain client workstations
- Perform software installations in compliance with company rules for allowed software
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices
- Support network infrastructure and expansion including physical connections and cabling
- Monitor network and server systems for errors and/or security issues and take appropriate action
- Ensure integrity of company data through proper access controls and backup systems
- Provide user support and document issues
- Develop expertise to train staff on company technologies
- Contribute to and maintain system standards and procedures
- Research new technologies and evaluate their applicability to company operations
- Maintain user accounts by provisioning new users and decommissioning old accounts
- Administer operating system and general software patch management
- Be on call for support of operations including harvest each year.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience working in a Windows Server based environment
- Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy
- General knowledge of networking and network services
- Proficiency at diagnosing and troubleshooting issues through application of knowledge, deductive reasoning and process of elimination
- Ability to work well with others and possession of good interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
- Formal background in computer science a plus
