Rate of Pay: $48.99/hr + DOE
Summary
Plans, configures and tests network infrastructure (LAN and WAN access, wireless, security, cores, switches, DC, Network, SAN, and UCS) and VoIP system. Plans and documents equipment life cycle. Researches, plans and implements technological changes to support the District's needs. Provides support to Network Administrators I & II.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes networking environment by design; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshoots network problems and outages; schedules upgrades; collaborates with the technical team on network optimization.
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Researches, recommends, plans and implements future technologies that will support the District's needs.
- Provides project management and coordination as it relates to Network Infrastructure projects.
- Makes recommendations and gives guidance on correct ways to implement a solution.
- Understands the District systems and troubleshoots issues as they arise as related to the network infrastructure.
- Installs and helps maintain the network backbone (cores and switches), wireless infrastructure, and wireless security and VoIP systems.
- Responsible for LAN, WAN, Wireless and VoIP systems installs, updates and upgrades.
- Works collaboratively with the Network Administrator staff to maintain the network infrastructure.
- Responsible for the security of network systems, deploys patches, monitors network for hostile intrusion, researches known problems to prevent break-ins and other security problems by using preventative measures.
- Provides support and training to Network Administration I & II staff.
- Provides Network Address assignments, routing protocols and configuration, authentication and authorization protocols, VPN and connectivity to the network.
- Works collaboratively on the Business Continuity plan for the District.
- Works closely with vendors, ensuring continuity of service and projects.
- Provides customer support to internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or completion of technical school.
Licenses and Certifications
None required.
Other Experience and Qualifications
- Prefer a CCNA or CCDA certificate.
- 5+ years Network Administration.
- 10+ years of general computer technical support and configuration.
- Experience with Cisco campus class switches, routers, AP, WLS, Firewalls.
- A record of continuing education in the form of classes/training seminars appropriate to maintain a current working knowledge of the above systems.
- HIPAA and Hospital experience preferred.
