Scheduling, Prior Auth, Multiline-phone systems, Epic use, EMR, all play a big part in the role
• Provide complete secretarial support to their supporting nurses.
• Answer telephones according to Hospital and section guidelines - accurately recording names, dates, times, telephone numbers and a clear and
concise summary.
• Accurately record all pertinent information for prescription refills.
• Prepare patient charts for satellite offices in a timely and organized manner.
• Prepare and submit satellite billing according to department guidelines in a timely manner.
• Obtain pre-certification for various procedures ordered by physicians.
• Efficiently distribute and log all Section dictation.
• Provide front desk coverage when necessary due to absence of staff or as patient schedule demands.
• Provide telephone coverage to others secretaries for lunch, break, etc.
• Mail out and file all patient related correspondence.
• Promptly and effectively handles requests for medical records.
• Provide coverage and/or assistance to the medical file clerk.
• Provide clerical support to other staff members as needed.
• Effectively arrange for coverage of responsibilities when out of the office.
• Maintain confidentiality of workplace information according to the policies and procedures of the institution and department.
