Position Summary:
Assists in maintaining patient/resident Medical Records and health information systems in accordance with current federal and state laws, regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 6 months office experience or preferably Healthcare/hospital environment with general knowledge of how to collect and protect patient information
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and/or medical record experience preferred
- Proven computer and typing skills
- Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills
- Presents a professional/positive image and can remain kind, calm and professional in all work related or stressful situations
- Knowledge of Point Click Care (PCC) preferred
Responsibilities:
- Clerical responsibilities including answering phones, setting up files, scheduling, documenting, etc.
- Assists the Director of Medical Records and/or Administrator as directed
- Retrieves, reviews, protects and provides patient/resident records
- Follows up with incomplete records, returning to appropriate department for corrections
- Responds to requests for Medical Records ensuring they are accurate and on time
- Assembles, collects and edits Medical Records as needed
- Maintains a record of authorized information released from charts/records
- Tracks and stores active and inactive Medical Records in accordance with company policy
- Protects files in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Assists in recording/filing/reporting on all incidents/accidents
