Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) is a community health center umbrella made up of 32 locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay region and beyond. Most locations are set up to serve medically underserved populations, but our doors are open to anyone regardless of insurance or lack of insurance. JOB SUMMARY
Ensures the appropriate, courteous and professional reception of patients and visitors, both coming into and calling the Center. Carries out the duties necessary to maintain a properly functioning Center from the standpoint of patient scheduling. Obtains pertinent patient and insurance information. Participates in a team-based approach to care in the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Participates in activities related to Quality Improvement.
JOB DUTIES
- Answers telephones promptly, and handles calls courteously, professionally and appropriately, including scheduling of patient appointments as directed. Screens calls to determine whether they are to be directed or handled. Takes messages for physicians and staff according to protocol.
- Greets incoming and outgoing patients and assists patients with sign-in procedure.
- Collects fees which are the patient responsibility at the time of visit and issues a receipt. Sets up payment plans as necessary.
- Inputs data in computer in accordance with "Patient Accounting Manual" and GLBHC billing policy. Follows Front Desk Manual for procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Associate degree in Medical Office Professional (or similar field) required. Pertinent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- Experience: Two (2) years previous experience in medical office or clinic setting required. Possesses medical billing experience as appropriate.
- Physical Effort: Medium.
