Position Overview: As a Medical Receptionist at Healthonomic Primary Care, your role will be crucial in providing excellent customer service and ensuring smooth patient flow within the clinic. You will be responsible for greeting patients, answering phone calls, verifying patient information, collecting payments, managing appointments, and maintaining cleanliness in the clinic. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the clinic.
Responsibilities:
1. Greet patients immediately upon their arrival and provide excellent customer service, ensuring a welcoming and friendly environment.
2. Answer phone calls promptly and assist callers with inquiries, appointment scheduling, and directing them to the appropriate staff members.
3. Check patients in by verifying and updating demographic and insurance information accurately and efficiently.
4. Collect patient co-pays and outstanding balances in person, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to billing procedures.
5. Scan and file patient forms accurately, maintaining organized and accessible electronic records.
6. Fax important documents, such as orders or referrals, to the correct facilities or specialists as required.
7. Utilize the electronic health record (EHR) system for assigned tasks, including appointment management and documentation.
8. Evaluate daily schedules to accommodate patient flow and minimize missed appointments, effectively managing any necessary rescheduling.
9. Efficiently manage scheduled appointments, ensuring patients are seen in a timely manner and their needs are met.
10. Check out patients after their appointments, providing necessary follow-up instructions, and scheduling any required follow-up appointments.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
3. Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance procedures, and electronic health records Epic (EHR) systems.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, staff, and external contacts.
5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
6. Proficient in using computers and various software applications.
7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
8. Flexibility to adapt to changing workflows and patient needs.
9. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions: The Medical Receptionist will primarily work in a clinic setting, often sitting for long periods. The role requires regular interaction with patients, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff. The reception area may be busy and occasionally noisy. Occasional lifting or moving of lightweight office supplies or equipment may be required.
