Job Description
North Suffolk Psychiatry is seeking a highly motivated, positive, energetic, and skilled individual to join our team. Medical office experience is a requirement for this position, and mental health experience is preferred. The perfect candidate will be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task while maintaining strong organizational skills.
Licenses/ Certifications/Qualifications:
- High school/GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree, Psychology/Sociology or related program (Preferred).
- Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and clinical specialists.
Experience
- 1-3 years experience as a psych tech/nursing assistant/receptionist; behavioral health setting preferred.
- Front desk experience (mental health preferred but not required).
- Requires strong communication and organizational skills.
- Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
- Must present a professional image.
What you will do
- Collaborate with referral sources, patients, families, and providers regarding care coordination. Provides follow-up actions as needed.
- Communicates patient/family needs to providers accurately and completely.
- Provide medical assistance (e.g., vital signs check, updates to patient history)
- Serves as the initial contact for patients, families, and referral sources seeking intervention or support.
- Admin duties (e.g., checking in/out patients for appointments, front desk operations, reviewing the completion of intake paperwork, answering telephones, contacting pharmacies, completing prior authorizations, callbacks to patients/guardians, writing notes for missed school/work days, scheduling, collecting past due balances on patient accounts/copays, insurance verifications, providing assistance to providers as needed, etc.)
- Performs and records patient vital signs
- Maintains daily logs to record details for reporting and communicate with staff regarding issues.
- Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to, assistance in the overall day-to-day functioning of the practice.
