Medical Front Desk Receptionist

Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing administrative support in a medical office setting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in dental or medical reception who is looking to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment. We are a high-volume ophthalmology and surgery practice with two locations (Fairfax and Alexandria) that may require traveling to both locations. Primary responsibilities for this position include clerical and technical patient care.

Duties:
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer phone calls and schedule appointments using medical scheduling software
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments
- Maintain patient records and update medical charts using electronic medical record
- Assist with medical administrative tasks, including filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
- Ensure the waiting area is clean and organized

Experience:
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist, medical receptionist, or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting is preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining patient records

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
