We are seeking a detail-oriented and EXPERIENCED Medical Biller to join our team. The Medical Biller will be responsible for following up on unpaid medical claims, accurately coding and billing medical claims, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding systems, such as ICD-9 and ICD-10, and possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Duties:
- Review and analyze patient medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered
- Enter coded data into the billing system and submit claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, identifying and resolving any billing discrepancies or errors
- Communicate with insurance companies to verify coverage, obtain pre-authorizations, and resolve claim issues
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation of medical services rendered
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Medical Billing or coding preferred
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Proficient in medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical office procedures
- Strong knowledge of medical collection practices and insurance guidelines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software
