JOB TITLE:Billing Specialist

REPORTS TO: Billing Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: The Billing Specialist is responsible for providing overall support in the Billing Department. In addition, this position is responsible for preparing charges for submission to insurance plans/patients, posting insurance payments to practice management system and interacting with insurance companies/patients about billing status and questions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Abilities

• Third party billing experience.
• Proficient in basic math skills.
• Ability to work with the public.
• Knowledge of HMO and other insurance requirements.
• Knowledge of Coding.
• Knowledge of HCFA 1500.
• Proficient in the use of the practice management computer program.
• Possess excellent telephone manner.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Education

• High School Diploma

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process electronic bill submissions/remits.
• Print, review and process HCFAs.
• Enter and review HMO referrals.
• Apply charges to patient accounts.
• Post insurance/patient payments to patient accounts.
• Follow up on insurance claims/denials.
• Accept patient or insurance company telephone inquiries and assist with problems.
• Read emails/newsletters and correspondence from insurance companies.
• Review and process patient statements.
• Weekly account review and follow-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
