Podiatry Billing Specialist

Westside Podiatry, a busy 2 provider office, is looking for an experienced billing specialist to join our team. We need someone who enjoys working as a team, proactive, attentive, and eager to do a great job caring for patients. If this sounds like you, keep reading!

How you will make an impact:

• Interacting with patients, insurance companies, Athena Health, and staff on a daily basis to meet their needs.
• Preparing and submitting billing data and medical claims to insurance companies, and appealing claims when necessary.
• Reviewing claims to verify payments are made according to fee schedule and contractual adjustments are taken appropriately.
• Ensuring claims hold buckets stay up to date and informing physician of any issues that arise.
• Proactively assisting patients with billing, referral, authorization, and other insurance issues as they come about, notifying the physician when necessary.
• Documenting clear, concise and complete follow up notes in system for each account worked.
• Assisting the front desk with phones calls, insurance verification, medical records requests, updating insurance/demographics, and other tasks as needed during busy periods.
• **Any other relevant tasks that may not be listed here but will be assigned accordingly.

We prefer you to have:

• Proficient English verbal and written communication skills
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not required
• Strong customer service skills and a positive mindset
• 2+ years of billing experience in a medical setting (podiatry a plus)
• Knowledge of Athena Health EMR
• Insurance verification via online payer sites and phone
• Insurance/claims experience to include Medicare/Medicaid, Commercial plans, Marketplace plans, Military plans, Worker's Comp, etc.
• Knowledge of A/R reporting and other revenue cycle management tasks
• Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis codes and use of modifiers along with procedural codes
• *Experience with provider credentialing/enrollment (a plus)

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certified Billing and Coding (a plus but not required)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
