We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. The Medical Biller will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining patient records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Review and verify accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information
- Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG) to procedures and diagnoses
- Prepare and submit electronic claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and resubmit as necessary
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or issues
- Stay updated on industry changes in coding regulations and reimbursement guidelines
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Medical Billing/coding is preferred
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and billing processes
- Proficient in using Medical Billing software/systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
