Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Fall into a new job, join a fast-paced, family-oriented, friendly, pediatric, private practice in the far northern suburbs of Chicago. We are seeking an experienced, professional Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join our team. Position is for in-office. Our current full-time opening includes Monday-Friday from 9am-5:30 p.m. and occasional Saturdays from 745 a.m. to 1p.m. We are closed on Sundays. Our office is open M-F from 8-9 a.m. for walk-ins with appointments scheduled from 9 a.m. - 5:40 p.m., and Saturdays, with walk-ins from 8-9 a.m. and scheduled appointments from 9 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. Our provider base is comprised of: 5 MD's and 2 nurse practitioners. Our patient base is from birth to age 21.

Operational Tasks:

Conveys excellent communication and coordination among the Care Team, is a certified biller & coder; very experienced with CPT & ICD-10 coding (pediatric experience preferred), appropriate use of modifiers, ability to enter charges, post payments, generate appeals and assists with soft collections as well as communicates with practice administrator/manager and TSI regarding collection accounts. Working knowledge of insurance and Coding websites for necessary updates. Performs other related duties as assigned/appropriate.

Knowledge and Educational Requirements:

• Previous experience, medical office setting required, pediatrics preferred.
• Strong computer skills/EMR experience preferred.
• Demonstration of excellent customer service skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians & management; both verbally and written.
• Sensitivity to confidential matters/HIPAA compliance necessary.
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively during high stress periods.
• Someone who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
• Position is for in-office only, agencies need not inquire.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
