Medical Biller / Medical Billing Specialist

Great opportunity to join our team as a Medical Billing Specialist! We are looking for an enthusiastic Billing Specialist to provide insurance and general billing support for our growing Medical Group.

Our billing team handles a high volume of work in the processing of claims and submission of claims. The Billing Specialist will ensure accuracy of billing submissions for outpatient medical and physical therapy services. Applicants should be very detail-oriented and organized, possess excellent communication skills, and once trained, be able to complete tasks independently.

What You'll Do:

• Generates revenue by manually entering billing accurately and in a timely manner
• Inputs billing information, including patient and insurance information, Medicare Part B, Medicaid and Medicaid pending
• Ensures billing charges, diagnosis, and other information is correct
• Corresponds with Physicians to resolve inquiries or concerns in a timely and professional manner
• Checks status of unpaid insurance claims in a timely manner
• Ensures patients eligibility and insurance verification
• Documents verification of insurance and other activities as appropriate in the collection notes. Additional billing/administrative tasks as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

• 1+ years’ experience in Medical Billing or similar role. Knowledge of all major insurance carrier reimbursement guidelines to ensure charges are mapped correctly
• Technologically savvy. Electronic Medical Record software (EMR) experience a plus. EClinicalWorks or Epic experience preferred
• Strong data entry, organizational and people skills. Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data efficiently, including high proficiency in Excel
• Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines effectively
• High integrity, collaborator with patient service focus and flexibility
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently, yet also function in a highly collaborative, fast paced, team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Medical Biller responsibilities

• Prepare medical claims and transmit them using billing software
• Analyze patient records and assign correct codes to bills and invoices
• Verify eligibility and benefits for client procedures
• Review, prepare and transmit claims using electronic and paper claim processing
• Manage and resolve unpaid and denied claims in a timely manner
• Maintain patient information confidentiality
• Audit and update claims
• Takes calls related to billing from patients, insurance companies and employees
• Processes Insurance payments and works on accounts receivable
