Description of Responsibilities, duties and expectations –
The individual assigned to this position is responsible for the safe, environmentally
compliant and efficient implementation of the maintenance activities required to effectively operate the hydroelectric power projects located in the Midwest Region of the USA.
The Maintenance Manager is expected to conduct business on behalf of Eagle Creek in a professional manner at all times. The Maintenance Manager will report directly to and take direction from the Division Manager.
Supervise and manage the maintenance team. Employee supervision, scheduling and performance evaluations also provide technical direction in the erection, maintaining or commissioning of hydroelectric equipment or supporting electrical or mechanical systems.
Demonstrate the ability to comply with all reasonable industry related standards and programs.
Some specific responsibilities may include (although not limited to) the following:
- Oversee all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities at assigned projects/plants, including (but not limited to);
- Minimum flow requirements
- Instrumentation readings
- Recreation activities
- Security at dams, powerhouses and all project appurtenances
- Record keeping
- Contractor safety
- Personnel safety
- Vehicle safety
Administrative duties;
- Assist the Midwest Division Manager (OPS) in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Assist in the preparation and management of the facility budgets
- Provide a safe work environment for all employees
- Qualify in and maintain qualifications for all facility-designated operating watch-standing positions within the area of coverage
- Maintain security at the main powerhouse, all outlying buildings, grounds and all other related structures
- Maintain and enforce all local, state and federal environmental permits and regulatory requirements
- Comply with company standards, practices and policies
- Provide accurate operational and maintenance records as required
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed in a timely, efficient manner
- Respond to emergency situations, when necessary
- Respond to plant call-outs when required
- Must be proficient in the use of personal computers, specifically in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, data collection and database software
- Perform other collateral duties as assigned
Organizational Relationships -
- Report directly to the Midwest Division Manager
- The Maintenance Manager will have to work as a team member in order to provide support to Northeast management team to plan and organize annual plant outages and capital projects.
- Report all dam safety related incidents to the Midwest Division Manager, Chief Dam Safety Engineer and the appropriate Army Corps of Engineers’ designee (as required)
Qualifications -
- A minimum of an associate's degree in a technical or engineering discipline or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, experience in hydro, steam and/or gas turbine power plant operations is preferred
- Experienced in the use of personal computers
- Must be able to read and understand single and three electrical drawings
- Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand P&IDs
- Must possess a thorough understanding of 3-phase power generation
- Must possess the understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
- Ability to understand complex issues as they relate to plant operations
- Ability to work extended hours, if and when required
- Must be capable of performing maintenance duties in outdoor situations
- Ability to perform operational tasks. Operational tasks may include:
- The ability to climb ladders and to be at heights of 80 -100 feet
- The ability and dexterity to manipulate various size components from valves to small electrical switches to computer keyboards
- The ability to perform chemical sampling procedures
- The ability to "handle" quick changing situations under stress
Some responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Manage the design, specification, cost, construction and commissioning of capital improvement projects.
- Assist the Operation Manager
- Assist in capital and maintenance budget preparation. Plan and prioritize budgeted work for implementation.
- Provide support to operational staff to improve reliability and performance. Support will involve troubleshooting of equipment and determination of failures.
