23-24 Temporary Learning Specialist Molalla River School District is actively recruiting for an Elementary Learning specialist for the 2023-2024 school year. Anticipated Start Date: January 3, 2024 This position is a 0.6 FTE3 days a week, 8:00 AM - 3:45 PM JOB GOALS:Support and consult with classroom teachers regarding ways to accommodate and modify instruction/ materials for students with disabilities.Provide specially designed instruction to assist students in the acquisition of skills and knowledge necessary to achieve the goals of the Individual Education Plan (IEP), as well as the State Benchmark Standards.Ensure that all district, state, and federal guidelines regarding pre-referrals (SST), referrals, testing, recordkeeping, and service delivery for students with disabilities are strictly followed.Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must:Understand the instructional and assessment requirements necessary to assist students in reaching the content and performance standards as established by Oregon's Educational Act For The 21st Century.Have knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction.Possess knowledge of and experience with supporting positive classroom and community behavior, with an emphasis on prevention.

Possess functional computer and technology literacy for functional aspects of the work, professional communication and instructional application.Have prior successful teaching experience in a supported education environment.Maintain satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.Provides specially designed instruction which focuses on the individual needs of the student and the achievement of the state content and performance standards.In preparation for instruction, addresses both short- and long-term learning goals.

Shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.Provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences.Works cooperatively with classroom teachers who have students with disabilities learning in their classrooms. Collaborates in the instructional planning for eligible students, monitors the I.E.P. and makes specific recommendations to teachers regarding the need for accommodations and modifications in instructional strategies and materials.Maintains professional competence through in service education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.Uses a variety of formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and achievement of IEP and instructional objectives.

Directs the work of instructional assistants. This includes directing, preparing, training, and monitoring instructional assistants regarding their services to eligible students.Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records regarding the pre-referral process, referrals, evaluation, IEP decisions, special education files and a state data collection of identified students as required by law and district policy.Maintains professional confidentiality concerning identifiable student information, individual student data and achievement.Reports student IEP goal progress aligned with district reporting grading periods to parents.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment. Notifies and involves parents/guardians regarding a student's behavior as outlined in school and District policies.Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as Board Policy and State Law.Participates in various meetings (e.g.

staff, team, SST, IEP, parent conferences, in-service training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information or sharing expertise.Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board or Administration. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:Hold valid Oregon Teaching license with a Special Education and/or other appropriate endorsements for specialized instruction.Possess and maintain a valid First Aid card if requiredCriminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Salary according to current salary schedule agreed upon in the Certified Collective Bargaining Agreement.
