Description:
Lakeland University, an independent liberal arts institution located in east central Wisconsin, invites applications from a diverse group of qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of English to begin August 2024. Lakeland seeks a candidate committed to serving a diverse student community. The successful candidate will teach courses in English, composition, and interdisciplinary studies, as well as advise students, serve on institutional and/or faculty committees, and participate in ongoing professional development.
This is a full-time (9-month), renewable, tenure-track position. Compensation will be commensurate with background and experience and a comprehensive benefit program is offered.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & SKILLS
- Ph.D. in English required;
- Experience with Shakespeare, the English language, and/or early modern texts preferred but not required;
- Ability to teach world literature and/or diverse literatures encouraged.
- Experience teaching introductory composition required;
- Experience teaching in multiple modalities desired;
- Experience working effectively with individuals of varying ages, backgrounds, and motivations.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Assistant Professor of English is responsible for:
- Teaching 24 credits per academic year, with a typical load comprised of composition (50%), and the remainder divided between the interdisciplinary studies core and English courses;
- Administering and/or developing coursework (assignments, projects, in-class learning activities, critiques, exams) that meets and assesses course learning objectives;
- Facilitating opportunities for students to engage in experiential education;
- Advising students;
- Serving on faculty and/or institutional committees;
- Participating in professional development.
