HUMAN RESOURCES FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT
PORTLAND, LANSING, SEATTLE

HYBRID WITH MINIMUM 2 DAYS ON SITE

POSITION SUMMARY

The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for planning and administering programs to improve skills, professional growth and knowledge across the organization. The position will assist in assessing needs; developing, managing and delivering training; overseeing compliance for partnership programs training and certifications; and managing developing growth and development plans. It will work closely with all company team members and team leaders to help develop and grow our mission of being a leading, people-focused technology provider.


Our Learning & Development Specialist is the key resource for developing and delivering training on technology and company operations, new hire onboarding and development planning. This position requires exceptional communication, assessment, planning, development and organizational skills – as well as a deep understanding of adult learning and growth paths.


WHAT WILL YOU DO AS LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST?

  • Manage New Hire Onboarding experience including delivery of introduction to company and technology, team handoff and overseeing development of departmental training.
  • Coordinate with organizational leaders to assess needed learning objectives, employee growth plans and personal/professional training needs.
  • Develop and implement an overall learning strategy and curriculum at all levels, based on the training needs assessment, growth plans and partnership requirements. Manage requirements, approvals and budgets for learning initiatives.
  • Assess computer-based training products and services (such as a Learning Management System LMS) in support of development, tracking and compliance efforts. Establish and maintain training participants' status and results.
  • Participate in identification and recruitment of instructors and external course providers, where appropriate, for specialized training needs.
  • Design, develop, update and deliver courses for new and existing tools, including all course materials, exercises and skills evaluations. Ensure feedback mechanisms and continuous improvement,
  • Manage and coordinate specialized training programs such as Grow, Advance and Emerging Leaders.
  • Other relevant job duties as assigned.

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS I NEED TO HAVE?

  • Degree or combination of experience and relevant coursework in adult learning, technology or business
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in technology, support and/or learning

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE A SUCCESSFUL LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST?

  • Experience/skills in:
  • Experience with adult learning principles, methodologies, presentation and course design techniques.
  • Experience with staff development.
  • Experience tracking and managing training and compliance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of:
    • Microsoft applications, ConnectWise Manage, Kaseya, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and/or other common MSP tools and services.
    • IT and related concepts required to accomplish essential job functions and responsibilities. Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure and other cloud service offerings.
    • Needs assessment, presentation design and assessment development.
  • Personal skills and abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) at all levels internally and externally, interpersonal, business management, time management, and developmental skills. Ability to modify your communication style, both formally and informally, to match your audience.
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, design, curriculum development and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs and feedback from staff into effective training materials.
  • Ability to work with limited direct supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WOULD REALLY HELP SET ME APART FROM OTHER APPLICANTS?

  • One or more of these certifications: Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF), Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)
  • A degree or certification in adult education and/or corporate training
  • Understanding of, and a background in working within the IT managed services provider business model, particularly as a Training Coordinator or similar role.
  • Experience developing technical training curriculum, video tutorials, and interactive online courses.
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Project management experience.

WHAT IS THE WORK ENVIRONMENT LIKE?

  • Normal office working conditions. Work requires regular sitting/standing at a desk, working with a computer. This position requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, seeing, reaching, talking, writing, and hearing; it may require occasionally carrying or lifting equipment if working on-site.
  • Position may require hours that exceed normal working hours per day during peak periods; on-call or travel work may include nights or weekends.
  • Position requires regular contact with others - in meetings, by phone or by email. Interactions focus on data collection, problem solving, needs analysis and technical training development. Interactions are initiated in person or electronically. Position may require some travel to Convergence or client sites.
