IT System Administration Specialist - Journey | Domain Services
Full Time | Permanent
Location: Tumwater, WA
Salary Range: $83,268 - $111,984 Annually
This position is a telework/hybrid position. The full telework schedule is to be determined upon a conversation with the position supervisor. Travel may be required.
This recruitment will fill multiple positions.
The Washington State Department of Corrections is excited to add a motivated self-starter who has experience with various Microsoft Active Directory concepts to join our Domain Services team as an IT System Administration - Journey! The goal of this role is to perform specialized administration, design, implementation, and operational support of statewide enterprise services for Active Directory (AD), Azure Microsoft Entra ID, System Management and Cloud Services to all Department of Correction (DOC) Agency-wide locations.
In this role, you will assist in technical problem solving within the Domain Services team and provide best practice administration on enterprise services by maintaining, implementing, and supporting highly available infrastructure. The candidate of choice will support core correctional operations to improve business practices and performance in support of the agency mission of improving public safety.

Duties

As an IT System Administration - Journey some of your duties will include:
  • Providing Active Directory Administration which could look like:
    1. Providing operational support of AD concepts such as Forests, Domains, Trusts, ADFS, LDAP, Kerberos, GPOs, Certificates, DNS, and DHCP
    2. Monitoring and troubleshooting Domain Controllers, authentication/replication issues
    3. Providing and supporting identity and authentication access management by creating, managing, auditing, and deleting standard/elevated accounts, service accounts, gMSA, SPNs, and global/universal security groups
    4. Creating, modifying, and maintaining PowerShell scripts to assist with Active Directory tasks, troubleshooting, and automating repetitive tasks
  • Administering Azure Microsoft Entra ID Administration and Cloud Services which could include:
    1. Providing and supporting identity and authentication access management in a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment
    2. Managing, troubleshooting, and configuring Multifactor Authentication (MFA) controls on user accounts
    3. Managing access to cloud services through Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Management groups and Resource groups
    4. Configures and creates Azure SSO for enterprise applications
  • Systems Management Administration
    1. Supports server operating system for Domain Services hosted servers.
    2. Provides tier 3 support to virtual and physical PCs related to AD services.
    3. Create remediation solutions via GPO or PowerShell scripts.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
What we need (required qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information security, information technology or closely related field

OR
  • Four years of progressively more responsible IT experience consulting, analyzing, scripting, installing and/or maintaining computer applications

AND
  • One year of professional work experience in the last 5 years working with Microsoft Active Directory or Azure Microsoft Entra ID
  • Two years of technical work experience in the last 5 years administering Microsoft Windows Server 2016 or newer in a professional business environment
  • One year of Microsoft PowerShell scripting experience within the last 5 years

What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications):
  • Five or more years of experience working in enterprise installation of the Microsoft Windows Server Operating system in an Active Directory environment. Experience should include design, installation, configuration, and administration
  • Four or more years of experience in the administration of Microsoft Active Directory domains in a Forest model enterprise environment
  • Two or more years of experience supporting or involvement with Microsoft Azure or cloud equivalent environment
  • Two or more years of experience using scripts to automate repetitive tasks
  • Microsoft Certifications or others - Server, Azure, M365, Intune Windows 10 or 11, Cloud Platforms, Automating Administration with PowerShell

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a "drop in" area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
